AA - Arkansas 5 Corpus Christi 3
The Hooks (33-21) suffered a rare loss at the hands of the Arkansas Travelers, 5-3. George Springer hit a pair of doubles, Drew Muren had 3 hits, and Max Stassi scored a pair of runs, but the Hooks bullpen faltered allowing runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings. Bobby Doran started the game for the Hooks, but got a no-decision despite allowing just 1 run on 2 hits in 5 innings of work. The Hooks were just 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position in the loss and left 12 men on base.
Advanced A - Visalia 12 Lancaster 10
The Rawhide scored 8 times in the 4th inning and held on late as they snapped Lancaster's 9-game winning streak in a wild 12-10 affair. Lancaster (33-21) got homers from Brandon Meredith and Matt Duffy and 3 hits apiece from Duffy and Andrew Aplin, but couldn't overcome the big 4th inning. Jonas Dufek allowed 6 runs in just a third of an inning to take the loss. Aaron West pitched well out of the pen though fanning 6 and allowing just a run on 3 hits in 4 innings of work. Joe Sclafani went 2 for 3 with a pair of walks and scored 3 times to raise his average to .367 while Preston Tucker added a pair of rbis to give him 52 on the year.
Low A - Quad Cities 6 Beloit 3 (14 innings)
Jonathan Singleton started the night 0 for 5 with 3 strikeouts, but ended the night a hero as his 14th inning 2-run homer helped the River Bandits (30-23) to an extra inning win over the Snappers. Singleton's homer was his third in as many games for Quad Cities. Carlos Correa added 3 hits and an rbi to raise his average on the year to .292. The River Bandits got solid pitching from Jordan Jankowski (5 IP 1 ER), Cameron Lamb (3 scoreless innings) and Gerardo Sanchez (4 scoreless innings, 6 Ks) in the win. John Neely got the final two outs for his 9th save.

Down on the Farm - 5/29/13
AA - Corpus Christi 5 Northwest Arkansas 4
Max Stassi had 2 doubles and 2 rbis and Erik Castro added 3 hits of his own as the Hooks (32-20) edged out the Naturals 5-4. Ruben Alaniz earned the win out of the pen with 3 solid innings of work to improve to 2-5 on the year while former Astro Sergio Escalona continues to work his way back after missing all of 2012 with 2 innings of work in which he allowed 1 run and fanned two to earn his first save. The Hooks had 12 hits in the game including 7 doubles.
Advanced A - Lancaster 9 Rancho Cucamonga 4
Preston Tucker homered again and Telvin Nash homered twice as the JetHawks (32-20) erased an early deficit and defeated the Quakes 9-4. Tucker and Nash each drove in 3 runs in the game and 6 different JetHawks players had multi-hit games led by Matt Duffy's 3 hits and 2 rbis. David Rollins worked 4 hitless innings in relief to earn his 4th win of the season.
Low A - Quad Cities 2 Kane County 1
Jonathan Singleton homered for the second time in as many games and also ripped a double as the River Bandits (29-23) won a close one over the Cougars 2-1. Teoscar Hernandez added a solo home run while Rio Ruiz (2/4) and Austin Elkins (2/3) each had multi-hit games for the River Bandits. Mike Hauschild worked 5 shutout innings of 1-hit ball, but it was Colton Cain who had 3 shutout innings of his own earning the win. John Neely worked the 9th for his 8th save.

Down on the Farm - 5/18/13
AAA - Sacramento 6 Oklahoma City 3
Jarred Cosart cruised through 4 shutout innings, but couldn't get out of the 5th as the River Cats exploded for 6 runs en route to a 6-3 win. Cosart finished with 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks and threw 96 pitches for Oklahoma City (24-17). The loss was Cosart's first of the season. Brett Wallace accounted for all of the RedHawks offense going 2 for 4 with a double, and a three-run homer, his sixth. Fernando Martinez added 2 hits for Oklahoma City.
AA - Midland 12 Corpus Christi 4
Midland's Anthony Aliotti homered three times off of three different Hooks pitchers as Midland buried Corpus Christi (24-18) by a score of 12-4. Nick Tropeano (0-3, 3.50) was roughed up for 7 earned runs in 3 2/3 innings as Midland led 9-1 after four. Domingo Santana and Enrique Hernandez each had 3 hits and a double in a losing effort.

Thomas Shirley fanned a season-high 9 in 4 innings of work, but the bullpen surrendered 6 runs late as the JetHawks (24-18) fell to the Rawhide 8-4. Lancaster made 3 errors and managed just 4 hits in the loss. Brandon Meredith drove in all four Lancaster runs on a sacrifice fly and a 3-run home run. MP Cokinos doubled and drew a pair of walks raising his average on the year to .360.

Down on the Farm - 5/16/13
AAA - Oklahoma City 7 Sacramento 2
Andrew Simunic's bases loaded bloop double in the top of the 7th put the RedHawks (24-15) ahead for good as they rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the River Cats 7-2. Brett Wallace added a pair of rbis, and Jonathan Villar and Austin Wates both added two hits as every RedHawk starter had a hit in the game. Relievers Alex Sogard, Josh Zeid, Rhiner Cruz and Eric Berger combined to throw 4 2/3 shutout innings to set up the late rally.
AA - San Antonio 6 Corpus Christi 2
Rene Garcia hit his 2nd home run of the season and Jiovanni Mier took another step closer to the Mendoza Line with a pair of doubles, but the Hooks (23-17) still fell short against the Missions, losing 6-2. Ruben Alaniz (0-5, 5.45) pitched well allowing just 2 runs in 4 2/3 innings while fanning 5, but the offense just couldn't get things going. Josh Fields made his first rehab appearance for Corpus Christi after appearing in two games for Quad Cities and threw another scoreless inning. Fields has now tossed 5 scoreless innings during his rehab.

The Rawhide scored twice in the bottom of the 7th against Tyson Perez (1-2, 6.62) and edged out the JetHawks (23-17) in a back-and-forth affair, 6-5. Matt Duffy led the JetHawks offense with 3 hits and 3 rbi, and Joe Sclafani, Andrew Aplin and Tyler Heineman all had multi-hit games for Lancaster. Aplin, the JetHawks starting centerfielder, also picked up a pair of outfield assists. Theron Geith tossed two scoreless innings in relief to lower his ERA on the year to 1.29. After allowing two runs in his first appearance of the season, Geith has rattled off 11 straight scoreless appearances. Delino DeShields Jr went 0 for 5 and struck out 4 times.

Colton Cain worked 4 1/3 solid innings and Mike Hauschild tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings of relief as the River Bandits (23-16) defeated the Timber Rattlers 3-1. The Bandits pushed 3 runs across in the 5th thanks to an error, a Carlos Correa rbi groundout and a Miles Hamblin single, and that was all the offense Quad Cities would need. Correa also added a single of his own to extend his hitting streak to 7 games and Ariel Ovando added a pair of hits to lead the offense. John Neely pitched a scoreless 9th for his 7th save.

George Springer homered and drove in 3 runs to lead a 13-hit attack as the Hooks (17-11) defeated the RockHounds 10-4. Michael Burgess added 3 hits including a pair of doubles, Ben Orloff knocked in a pair of runs, and 5 different Hooks players had multi-hit games. On the mound, Matt Heidenreich, who had been struggling, turned in his best outing of the year throwing 5 shutout innings in relief to earn his 2nd win of the season and lower his ERA to 6.35. Pat Urckfitz added a scoreless inning on the mound.
Advanced A - High Desert 9 Lancaster 7
Nolan Fontana had four hits including his third home run of the year, but his error led to 6 unearned runs and the JetHawks (16-11) fell to the Mavericks 9-7. Andrew Aplin and Telvin Nash each added a pair of hits, but Delino DeShields Jr. was 0 for 4 and saw his average dip to .228 on the year and Matt Duffy went hitless and is now 0 for 17 following a 15 game hitting streak. Jonas Dufek pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief while David Rollins (2-3, 4.91) suffered the loss on the mound.

Brian Holmes followed up his 10-strikeout performance, with 3 scoreless innings in relief, and Jon Neely pitched a perfect 9th for his fourth save. Offensively, Teoscar Hernandez hit his first home run of the year in the 8th to tie the game, and Miles Hamblin drove in Jesse Wierzbicki on an rbi single in the top of the 9th to put Quad Cities up for good.

Down on the Farm - 4/27/13
AAA - Oklahoma City 11 New Orleans 1
Marc Krauss clubbed his team-leading 5th home run of the season, and Jordan Lyles had his best outing of the year allowing just 1 run in 5 innings of work as the RedHawks (12-10) buried the Zephyrs 11-1. Brett Wallace added his second homer since his demotion and Jonathan Villar, Trevor Crowe and Jake Elmore all had 2 RBIs in the rout.

The Hooks (13-9) scored 7 times in the first inning and blew out the RoughRiders 11-0. Enrique Hernandez had a 3-run triple in the first, and George Springer added his 7th home run of the season to lead the offensive explosion. Bobby Doran and Nick Tropeano combined on the 7-hit shutout with Doran improving to 3-0 on the year and Tropeano earning his 3rd save while fanning 7 in his 4 innings of work.
Advanced A - Inland Empire 10 Lancaster 7 (10 innings)
The JetHawks (14-8) bullpen faltered late allowing 7 runs between the 8th and 10th innings as the JetHawks were tripped up by the 66ers 10-7 in 10. Zach Johnson went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a homer to lead the JetHawk offense, and Telvin Nash extended his hitting streak to 5 while clubbing his 2nd homer of the year. Travis Ballew blew the save in the 9th, but did strike out 2 more hitters giving him 17 in 7 2/3 innings this year.

John Neely got Dwight Smith to ground into a force play with the bases loaded and two outs in the 9th to give the River Bandits (13-7) a 3-2 win over the Lugnuts. Lance McCullers didn't allow an earned run in 5 innings of work lowering his ERA to 1.93 on the year, but he was denied his first win of the season once again, leaving with the score tied at 1. Daniel Minor earned the win in relief with 6 strikeouts in three scoreless innings of work. The River Bandits managed just 3 hits in the win and took advantage of 4 Lansing errors to steal this one.

The Isotopes rode a 5-run 4th inning to an 8-1 win over the RedHawks (10-8) sending Rudy Owens (0-3) to his third loss of the season. The RedHawks managed only 5 hits, 2 of them by Jonathan Villar who recorded his 4th straight 2-hit game, and 1 a solo homerun by catcher Cody Clark. Trevor Crowe saw his 15 game hitting streak come to an end with an 0 for 4 outing.

Jeremy Barfield slugged a solo homerun with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th off of Carlos Quevedo to lead the RockHounds to a 2-1 walkoff win over the Hooks (9-8).
