AAA - Oklahoma City 8 Albuquerque 4
Jarred Cosart struggled with his control and failed to make it through 5 innings, but the RedHawks (32-24) still managed to defeat the Isotopes 8-4. Cosart walked 5, hit 2, and threw just 49 strikes out of 99 pitches as he ended up getting charged with 4 runs in 4 1/3 innings. The bullpen didn't fair much better walking 6 more, but they managed to toss 4 2/3 innings of shutout ball despite their wildness. Fernando Martinez led the offense with 3 rbis including a 2-run single to break a 4-4 tie, while Carlos Perez and Andrew Simunic each had 3 hits in the game. Jonathan Villar went 2 for 4 and stole his 17th base of the season.
Advanced A - Stockton 4 Lancaster 2
Preston Tucker had his 17 game hitting streak snapped and the JetHawks (35-22) saw their late rally fall short in a 4-2 loss to the Ports. Matt Duffy was 3 for 3 with a double and Delino DeShields was 2 for 4 with a double and an rbi, but the JetHawks were just 1 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Kyle Hallock tossed 3 hitless innings of relief in a losing effort.
Low A - Quad Cities 2 Beloit 1
Rio Ruiz drove in both River Bandits runs and Mike Hauschild tossed 4 scoreless innings of relief as Quad Cities (32-24) edged out the Snappers 2-1. Jonathan Singleton was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk and scored both runs and Colton Cain turned in a solid start allowing just a run on 4 hits in 5 innings. Carlos Correa went 0 for 4 and is 1 for his last 13 lowering his average on the year to .275.
Dominican Summer League - DSL Astros 3 DSL Mariners 2
Centerfielder Luis Payano reached base 4 times with 2 singles and 2 walks and led the DSL Astros (1-1) to their first win of the season as they defeated the DSL Mariners 3-2. After getting shutout for 6 innings, the Astros broke through for 2 runs in the 7th and a run in the 9th when Payano singled home pinch runner Jean Estrella. Reliever Angel Heredia earned the win after throwing 2 1/3 shutout innings in which he didn't allow a hit, walked one, and fanned five. Juan Hernandez started and allowed one earned run in 5 innings of work.

Down on the Farm - 5/30/13
AAA - Oklahoma City 8 Omaha 1
Asher Wojciechowski bounced back from a couple of subpar outings with 6 solid innings as the RedHawks (30-23) cruised to an 8-1 win over the Storm Chasers. Kevin Chapman, Josh Zeid and Rhiner Cruz all tossed scoreless innings in relief of Wojo and Carlos Perez and Che-Hsuan Lin each drove in a pair of runs in the win. Fernando Martinez was 2 for 4 with a double and an rbi, and newly demoted Robbie Grossman went 0 for 3, but walked and scored twice and stole a base.
AA - Corpus Christi 5 Northwest Arkansas 0
Jake Buchanan's ridiculous run through AA continued yesterday as he tossed 5 more shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and fanning 4 in the Hooks (33-20) 5-0 win. In 13 appearances, 9 starts, Buchanan has logged 58 1/3 innings and allowed just 6 runs on 36 hits. He's walked only 4 and has an ERA of 0.77 while holding opposing hitters to a .181 average. Buchanan has now gone 7 straight outings spanning 32 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run. George Springer hit his 16th home run of the season and Erik Castro his 5th which provided more than enough run support. Carlos Quevedo tossed 4 scoreless innings of his own to earn his first save.
Advanced A - Lancaster 15 Visalia 2
All nine JetHawks in the starting lineup drove in at least one run as Lancaster (33-20) blew out Visalia 15-2. Matt Duffy homered and scored 4 times, Chris Epps doubled twice, tripled and drove in 3 runs, while Jean Batista, Delino DeShields Jr, Joe Sclafani, and Andrew Aplin all had multi-hit games to lead the 16-hit attack. DeShields added two stolen bases to give him 12 on the year and Preston Tucker drove in a pair of runs to give him 50 leading all Astros minor leaguers. Kyle Hallock allowed one hit in 5 shutout innings as he improved to 3-0 for Lancaster.

Down on the Farm - 5/12/13
AAA - Salt Lake 9 Oklahoma City 3
Jarred Cosart was tremendous once again, but his quality start was wasted by the bullpen as the RedHawks (22-14) relievers surrendered 8 runs over the final 2 innings in a 9-3 loss to the Bees. Cosart allowed just a run on 2 hits in 6 innings of work lowering his AAA ERA to 2.08, but Kevin Chapman and Rhiner Cruz couldn't hold the lead. The RedHawks offense was limited to just 5 hits in the loss, but Marc Krauss did pick up his 27th rbi of the season.
AA - Frisco 5 Corpus Christi 2
Jiovanni Mier hit his 4th home run of the season, but it wasn't enough as the RoughRiders defeated the Hooks (21-15) 5-2. Mier had two of the Hooks' 5 hits as with George Springer on the bench the offense lacked punch striking out 13 times. Ruben Alaniz fell to 0-4 on the season after allowing 4 runs in 5 innings.
Advanced A - Lancaster 2 Stockton 0
Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz combined on a no-hitter as the JetHawks (22-15) defeated the Ports 2-0. Hallock, making his first appearance for Lancaster after getting sent down from AAA, went 5 innings, and was perfect with the exception of a Delino DeShields error. Cruz followed him up and walked 1 hitter in his 4 innings of work, and fanned 4. A Preston Tucker sacrifice fly and a Delino DeShields squeeze supplied all the offense as the JetHawks managed only 2 hits themselves.
Low A - Peoria 4 Quad Cities 2

Colton Cain suffered his 4th loss of the season in relief even though he allowed just 2 hits in 4 innings of work. Mike Hauschild started for the Bandits and turned in a solid effort allowing just 1 earned run in 5 inning of work. Jesse Wierzbicki had 2 of Quad Cities' 5 hits to lead the offense.

Down on the Farm - 4/29/13
AAA - Oklahoma City 9 Nashville 8
The RedHawks (14-10) overcame an early 7-1 deficit and rallied for a 9-8 win behind a huge night from Trevor Crowe. Crowe went 3 for 3 with 4 runs scored, a homer, two walks and 3 stolen bases while Jake Elmore tripled, homered and knocked in 3 more to rally the RedHawks. Jonathan Villar also had a big game with 3 more hits and a pair of steals raising his average all the way up to .290 after a 2 for 34 start to the season. Starting pitcher Ross Seaton was shelled lasting just 1 2/3 innings and yielding 7 runs, but was bailed out by the offense and the bullpen. Kyle Hallock earned his first win in AAA with 4 1/3 scoreless innings, and Jose Valdez got the final six outs for his 7th save.
AA - Frisco 4 Corpus Christi 2
George Springer hit his 8th home run of the season, but that was all the offense the Hooks (13-11) could muster as they fell 4-2 to the RoughRiders. Matt Heidenreich pitched 4 solid innings allowing just one unearned run and lowering his ERA on the year to 8.15, but Ruben Alaniz took the loss in relief to fall to 0-3 despite allowing just two runs (one earned) in 3 innings of work. Domingo Santana and Michael Burgess each had two hits in the loss.
Low A - Quad Cities 6 Great Lakes 1
Brian Holmes was simply dominant yesterday striking out a season high 10 in 5 innings while allowing just 1 unearned run to lead the River Bandits (14-8) to a 6-1 win over the Loons. Terrell Joyce had 2 runs batted in, and Teoscar Hernandez and Joe Sclafani each had two hits to lead the offense and Jordan Jankowski tossed 4 shutout innings to earn his first save of the year.
