AAA - Oklahoma City 4 Iowa 3
Ross Seaton won his second straight decision and was backed by a solid effort from the bullpen as the RedHawks (28-23) defeated the Cubs 4-3. Alex Sogard pitched 1 2/3 no-hit innings, and Rhiner Cruz and Jose Valdez each followed with a shutout innings of their own as Valdez earned his 10th save of the year. Cody Clark and Andrew Simunic each went 2 for 4 with a run scored to lead the offense while Jake Elmore and Brett Wallace each drove in runs. Fernando Martinez's recent struggles continued as he went 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts and grounded into a double play. He's now hitting .212 on the year for the RedHawks.
AA - Corpus Christi 14 Arkansas 4
George Springer hit a pair of home runs, giving him 15 on the year, and drove in 5 as the Hooks (30-20) overcame an early 4-0 deficit and steamrolled the Travelers 14-4. Michael Burgess added a pair of home runs of his own and Domingo Santana had four hits including a home run missing the cycle by only a triple as the Hooks banged out 16 hits in the rout. Nick Tropeano finally earned his first win of the season with 5 innings of work while Bobby Doran earned his first save with 4 scoreless innings of relief.
Advanced A - Lancaster 6 Rancho Cucamonga 4
Aaron West allowed just 1 hit in 5 shutout innings and Delino DeShields Jr. went 4 for 4 with a walk as the JetHawks (30-20) defeated the Quakes 6-4. Raoul Torrez added 3 hits and Joe Sclafani doubled in a pair of runs to lead the offense. Travis Ballew allowed a solo home run to O'Koyea Dickson in the 9th, but picked up the final 4 outs, 3 by strikeout, to earn his 9th save. Ballew has now fanned 35 hitters in 20 1/3 innings for the JetHawks this season.
Low A - Quad Cities 11 Clinton 4
Carlos Correa singled twice, doubled and drove in 4 runs and Jobduan Morales and Austin Elkins each had 3 hits of their own as the River Bandits (27-23) upended the LumberKings 11-4. Miles Hamblin homered and drove in 2, while Terrell Joyce and Morales each drove in a pair as well. Vincent Velasquez earned the win with 5 innings of work to improve to 4-2 despite an uncharacteristic 0 strikeouts.

Down on the Farm - 5/22/13
AAA - Oklahoma City 7 Fresno 3
Ross Seaton (1-4, 8.21) finally got his first win of the season as the RedHawks (27-18) defeated the Grizzles 7-3. Fernando Martinez hit a three run homer, Jake Elmore homered and drove in a pair, and Brett Wallace reached base 4 times (2 singles, 2 walks) as the RedHawks offense overcame three errors by their defense en route to the win. Jason Stoffel pitched 2 scoreless innings and fanned three lowering his ERA since his promotion to AAA to 2.08. He's allowed just 7 hits in 13 innings with the RedHawks and is holding hitters to a .156 average.
AA Corpus Christi 8 Northwest Arkansas 2
Jake Buchanan allowed one unearned run in five innings lowering his ERA to 0.84 and improving his record to 5-0 as the Hooks (26-19) defeated the Naturals 8-2. Domingo Santana, Erik Castro and Michael Burgess all drove in a pair of runs as the Hooks scored in every inning from the 2nd to the 5th to erase an early 1-0 deficit. Over his past ten games, Castro is 18 for 39 with 5 doubles, 2 homers and 10 runs batted in. Josh Fields made his sixth rehab appearance, and fourth for Corpus Christi, and allowed his first run of the year in 2 innings of work.
Low A - Wisconsin 12 Quad Cities 5 (11 innings)
The River Bandits (23-21) rallied from a 5-0 deficit to send the game into extra innings, but the Timber Rattlers scored 7 times in the 11th to win 12-5. Austin Elkins hit his first home run of the year, and Jordan Scott, Carlos Correa and Miles Hamblin all had multi-hit games for the River Bandits. Jordan Jankowski started the game on the mound and fanned 6 in 4 innings of work, and did not walk a batter.

AAA - Iowa 6 Oklahoma City 1
Trevor Crowe, Jonathan Villar and Carlos Perez all had 2 hits, but the RedHawks (18-12) fell behind early, and never recovered losing to the Cubs 6-1. Ross Seaton's struggles in AAA continued as he allowed 4 runs in 5 innings of work to fall to 0-2 with a 10.42 ERA. Former Astro Brian Bogusevic continued his big series against the RedHawks reaching base 3 times and raising his average on the year to .419 (39/93). Another former Astro, Edwin Maysonet homered and drove in 3 runs for the Cubs.
AA - Corpus Christi 3 San Antonio 0
Mike Foltynewicz announced his presence in AA with authority striking on 9 in 5 shutout innings in which he allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk as the Hooks (19-12) defeated the Missions 3-0. Folty's relief, David Martinez (4-0), was equally impressive throwing 3 1/3 shutout innings to earn the win and lowering his ERA on the year to 0.87. George Springer hit his 11th homer of the season and Domingo Santana followed it up with his 4th to lead the offense.
Advanced A - Lancaster 8 High Desert 7
The JetHawks (18-12) overcame an early 5-1 deficit and held on late to defeat the Mavericks 8-7. Jonas Dufek and Brady Rodgers combined to throw 5 scoreless innings out of the bullpen setting the stage for the comeback as the JetHawks banged out 15 hits, including 2 apiece from MP Cokinos, Matt Duffy, Preston Tucker, Tyler Heineman and Chris Epps in the win. Travis Ballew surrendered a 2-run homer in the 9th, but still earned his 5th save.

AAA - Oklahoma City 9 Nashville 8
The RedHawks (14-10) overcame an early 7-1 deficit and rallied for a 9-8 win behind a huge night from Trevor Crowe. Crowe went 3 for 3 with 4 runs scored, a homer, two walks and 3 stolen bases while Jake Elmore tripled, homered and knocked in 3 more to rally the RedHawks. Jonathan Villar also had a big game with 3 more hits and a pair of steals raising his average all the way up to .290 after a 2 for 34 start to the season. Starting pitcher Ross Seaton was shelled lasting just 1 2/3 innings and yielding 7 runs, but was bailed out by the offense and the bullpen. Kyle Hallock earned his first win in AAA with 4 1/3 scoreless innings, and Jose Valdez got the final six outs for his 7th save.
AA - Frisco 4 Corpus Christi 2
George Springer hit his 8th home run of the season, but that was all the offense the Hooks (13-11) could muster as they fell 4-2 to the RoughRiders. Matt Heidenreich pitched 4 solid innings allowing just one unearned run and lowering his ERA on the year to 8.15, but Ruben Alaniz took the loss in relief to fall to 0-3 despite allowing just two runs (one earned) in 3 innings of work. Domingo Santana and Michael Burgess each had two hits in the loss.
Low A - Quad Cities 6 Great Lakes 1
Brian Holmes was simply dominant yesterday striking out a season high 10 in 5 innings while allowing just 1 unearned run to lead the River Bandits (14-8) to a 6-1 win over the Loons. Terrell Joyce had 2 runs batted in, and Teoscar Hernandez and Joe Sclafani each had two hits to lead the offense and Jordan Jankowski tossed 4 shutout innings to earn his first save of the year.

George Springer hit a two run home run, and Rene Garcia went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles as the Hooks kicked off the 2013 campaign with a 3-2 win over the Springfield Cardinals. Ross Seaton allowed 2 runs in 5 innings to earn the win and Jason Stoffel pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

Andrew Aplin scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 8th on a balk and Lancaster defeated the High Desert Mavericks 10-9. Shortstop Nolan Fontana reached base 5 times (single, homer, 2 walks, hit by pitch), Preston Tucker drove in 3 runs without the benefit of a hit, Tyler Heineman had 3 hits, Matt Duffy added a homer and Delino DeShields Jr. was 2 for 5 with a double and a triple as the JetHawks banged out 13 hits in their season opening win. Starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz was roughed up for 5 runs in just 2 2/3 innings though he did have 4 strikeouts. Blair Walters picked up the win in relief while Travis Ballew pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
