Down on the Farm - 4/20/13

AAA - Oklahoma City 3 Albuquerque 1

Jarred Cosart showed that pitching help is on the way as he held the Isotopes to 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings to improve to 2-0 on the season leading the RedHawks (9-7) to a 3-1 win. Marc Krauss had an rbi triple to give him 17 rbis on the season, and Trevor Crowe (.339) singled to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Wes Musick added 3 scoreless innings of  relief and Jose Valdez pitched a perfect 9th with 2 strikeouts to earn his 4th save of the season.

AA - Corpus Christi 1 Frisco 0

George Springer's solo home run in the 7th was all the offense the Hooks (9-6) would need as David Martinez and Asher Wojciechowski were on point, limiting the RoughRiders to just 2 hits in a shutout win. Martinez retired all 15 hitters he faced, and Wojo took the perfect game into the 7th before finally giving up a 2-out double to Jared Hoying. Wojciechowski has now thrown 18 scoreless innings to start the season.

Advanced A - Lancaster 11 Bakersfield 4

Delino DeShields Jr. tripled twice, stole two bases and scored 3 runs as the JetHawks (10-6) erupted late in an 11-4 win over the Blaze. Preston Tucker added his 5th home run of the year, and Nolan Fontana and Zach Johnson eached drove in two runs in the win. Luis Cruz started for the JetHawks and allowed just 1 hit and 1 walk in 5 shutout innings of work to earn his first win of the season.

Low A - Kane County 7 Quad Cities 3 (Game 1)

The Cougars jumped out to an early 5-0 lead against the River Bandits and Quad Cities never recovered dropping Game 1 of their doubleheader 7-3. Brian Holmes (1-1) started, but didn't get out of the third inning suffering his first loss of the season. Teoscar Hernandez doubled and drove in a pair to lead the offense, while Ariel Ovando went 2 for 2 with a walk. Carlos Correa went 0 for 4 with a strikeout and saw his average dip down to .205.

Kane County 4 Quad Cities 3 (Game 2)

Marco Hernandez tripled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the 6th off of Mitchell Lambson as Kane County swept a doubleheader with the River Bandits (9-5) winning the nightcap 4-3. Jesse Wierzbicki (.296) was 2 for 3 and drove in a pair to lead the offense. He also stole his third base of the season. Jordan Jankowski started the game for the Bandits, but didn't get out of the 4th inning.
